A match made in heaven Why are the Oxpecker and r A match made in heaven

Why are the Oxpecker and rhino such good friends?
While the rhino spends a considerable amount of time scratching itself against rocks and trees, this temporary respite doesn’t actually solve its problem.
Not blessed with particularly great eyesight, the rhino depends on the oxpecker for the removal of annoying parasites and for protection. The bird acts as an early warning system against approaching predators, including humans! In exchange for its services, the oxpecker feeds on the ticks and parasites that plague its hoofed companions.

Did you know that pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world? These incredibly unique creatures have been driven to the brink of extinction by the illegal wildlife trade. It is estimated that we lose 400 000 pangolins every year to the illegal wildlife trade.
There are so many incredible organisations and individuals, like @pangolinafrica @pams_foundation @africanpangolinconservation , working to ensure that we don’t ever need to live in a world in which pangolins no longer exist. In honour of World Pangolin Day, coming up next week, we’re excited to share more about one these individuals in particular, Maria Diekmann, who is the founder of @restnamibia
Maria has devoted her life to protecting animals like pangolins, who are not necessarily the most well known animals, but who are incredibly endangered.
Keep an eye out for our short film and blog coming soon to learn more about the plight of these elusive species and the woman working to protect them.

On WORLD PANGOLIN DAY we are elated to share the news that @investec have partnered with us to fund the first ever dedicated pangolin ward in Africa! While we have always treated our pangolin patients at an offsite location to protect them as well as our staff, we now have a secured private location that will be kitted out with everything our staff need to give pangolins a fighting chance! The ability for us to ramp up the care and safety we can provide to this incredible species is all thanks to Investec for believing in our dream to save this species from extinction.

We are so grateful to Investec for sharing our love for Temmincks pangolin - so much so that they have assisted to ensure we can do our best for every pangolin patient that comes our way.

We treat indigenous animals free of charge, relying solely on the donations and support of our community.

WORLD PANGOLIN DAY On World Pangolin Day we thank WORLD PANGOLIN DAY On World Pangolin Day we thank rangers like Emilia from @gorongosapark
in Mozambique who work against all odds to protect and conserve Africa's remaining pangolin. In 2020 alone the rangers and veterinarians from @gorongosapark
rescued and released 40 of these amazing creatures back into the wild. Here Ranger Emilia baths a young pangolin who was rescued from an illegal trade market. Respect to the rangers of Africa on #WorldPangolinDay for protecting what we love! You are the frontline heroes of conservation - committed, dedicated and deserving of support!
