WILD DOGS PROJECT UPDATE A good Sunday morning o WILD DOGS PROJECT UPDATE

A good Sunday morning out with @knpwilddogs collaring a pack of wild dogs which often roams out of protected areas! One of our favourite species to work with, even as challenging as they can be to try and effectively capture!

We believe that tracking the dogs will have a meaningful impact on protectng this magnificent animal and so far, all evidence points in our favour.
It is our hope to have 30 wild dog packs collared in the next month.
We will continue with our collaborative efforts to save this magnificent species.

WILD DOGS PROJECT UPDATE Our aim is to collar on WILD DOGS PROJECT UPDATE

Our aim is to collar one adult female in each pack throughout the Greater Kruger National Park.

Monitoring their movement enables us to send timeous alerts to conservation managers about collars that have stopped moving, packs that have moved out of the protected area and into an area where they are at risk of being persecuted, packs that have recently moved through areas with a known high incidence of snares or packs that have moved through an area where there is a chance of them coming in contact with domestic dogs which could transmit diseases such as rabies & distemper. This allows conservation managers to take quick action in protecting these animals.

Drawing blood for various genetics and disease testing purposes as we take advantage of this wild dog immobilization to gather as much information as we can. Thanks to @theboucherlegacy and @knpwilddogs a massive wild dog monitoring project is well underway!
